In the picturesque area of Plaka, just a few meters from the well-known steps of Monsikleus, at the intersection of Erechtheos and Erotokritou Streets, it is located in a beautifully landscaped neoclassical building, the historic restaurant “Palia Taverna tou Psara” (“Old Fisherman’s Tavern”) since 1898. A point of reference for those who love good Greek cuisine. In a letter to George Seferis the intellectual George Katsimbalis, also known as the Colossus of Marousi, mentions Psarra’s Tavern, which was already known and is Seferi’s favorite taverna. Lawrence Olivier, Vivian Lee, Graham Greene, Margot Fontaine, “all these foreigners,” Mr. Katsimballis said in his letter, “are gathering at Mr. George’s dinner and asking for their money!”
